Secrets in the Stillness

Secrets in the Stillness

As we stand in the final days of 2024, preparing to welcome a new year, I want to share a verse that stopped me in my tracks this week. It felt like a personal invitation from God to pause, reflect, and realign my heart with His:

“The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.” (Psalm 25:14, NIV)

The New King James Version phrases it this way:

“The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant.”

And my personal favorite, the English Standard Version:

“The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant.”

This verse struck me deeply because it paints such a tender picture of who God is—not only our Lord, Savior, and Creator, but also our Friend.

Let’s be honest—this time of year can feel overwhelming. Christmas has passed, and the new year looms ahead with its promise of fresh starts and long to-do lists. Between business goals, work schedules, family visits, and all the holiday preparations, it’s easy to feel scattered and disoriented.

In the chaos, our time with God can easily take a back seat. But this verse reminded me of something vital: the most productive thing we can do—especially in the busyness—is to spend time with Him.

God doesn’t want a rushed or occasional check-in. He desires to share His heart, His wisdom, and His plans with us. But we can only hear Him when we intentionally create space to be still and listen.

This verse speaks of the Lord confiding in those who fear Him. Imagine that for a moment: the Creator of the universe wants to share His secrets with you. He desires to reveal His plans for your life, your relationships, your family, and even your business.

I’ve experienced this firsthand. My business wouldn’t exist without the strategies God revealed during quiet moments with Him. Time and again, when I felt overwhelmed or uncertain, He met me with clarity and wisdom far beyond what I could have come up with on my own.

As we approach 2025, I’ve been reflecting on ways to intentionally deepen my relationship with God. Here are some tools and practices I’m carrying into the new year:

  • ARMA Bible Courses with Manny Arango: These courses offer profound insights into Scripture, equipping you to apply God’s Word to your life in practical ways. They’ve challenged me to dig deeper into the Bible and align my life with His truths.
  • The Partner Prayer Notebook by Becky Tirabassi: This notebook has been a game-changer for structuring my quiet time. It combines prayer, journaling, and Scripture reflection, helping me stay consistent and focused while spending time with God.
  • Streetlights Audio Bible: On busy days, listening to Scripture through this resource allows me to soak in God’s Word while driving, cleaning, or exercising. It’s a simple but impactful way to stay connected.
  • Raphah Candle Co.: Lighting candles has become an intentional practice for me. It sets the atmosphere for stillness and invites peace into my time with God. The mission of Raphah Candle Co. is to help others slow down, heal, and experience God’s presence.

What About You?

As you step into the new year, how are you planning to prioritize your time with God? Are there tools, habits, or resources that have helped you stay consistent? I’d love to hear and be inspired by what’s working for you!

A Prayer for the New Year

Here’s my prayer for us as we step into 2025:

Lord, as this year ends and a new one begins, help us to slow down and meet You in the stillness. Teach us to treasure Your friendship and seek Your heart above all else. Share Your secrets and guide us in every area of our lives. Thank You for being our Friend, Counselor, and Savior. We commit this new year to You. Amen.

Let’s embrace 2025 with hearts ready to hear from God and experience His friendship in ways we never have before.
